Knock Your Socks off Chili!

Ingredients:

5 lb. ground beef
2 cheap Safeway chili starter packets (1 hot and 1 regular—shhhh, don’t tell!)
3 cloves crushed garlic
2-3 tbsp. beef broth concentrate (we like Better than Boullion)
2 large onions, chopped
1 jalapeño, diced
1-2 tbsp. Worcestershire
1-2 tbsp. chili powder
4 oz. can, chopped green chiles
28 oz. can, whole peeled tomatoes
16 oz. can, red kidney beans
16 oz. can, black beans
16 oz. plain tomato sauce

Topping options:

raw onion
cheddar cheese
sour cream

 

Recipe:

  1. Brown beef in large, heavy dutch oven on high heat, then drain.
  2. Lower heat to medium, add Onions and Jalapeño and cook until they start to soften.
  3. Add chili packets, garlic, green chiles, whole peeled tomatoes, kidney beans and black beans. Mix well, breaking up tomatoes.
  4. Let cook for 10 minutes or until moisture starts to release from tomatoes.
  5. Add beef broth concentrate, Worcestershire, and chili powder to taste. Add salt if needed.
  6. If Chili is  on the dry side, add another can of whole peeled tomatoes or some tomato sauce for moisture.
  7. Cook for 25 minutes or so.
  8. Serve topped with chopped raw onions, cheddar cheese, and sour cream.
